Water suitability for Orchids

Tap Water: Tap water in India is usually alkaline (Ph > 7). Although this could be used for watering Orchids, the ideal Ph range is 5.5 - 6. This means that water should be acidified (ideally) by using mild HCl (Hydrochloric Acid) to the relevant Ph. Do not attempt it if you are not equiped to measure the Ph.

Well Water or Ground Water: Is suitable for Orchids. However the mineral content varies from place to place. High calcium can be harmful to the roots.

Rain Water: Rain water, if can be collected will be an ideal source of water for Orchids.
